    Like most government offices, the courthouse is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., during regular business house; they are closed during judicial holidays. Many hearings and trials may start at 9:00 a.m. Arrive early to allow time to find parking, get through security, and get to your courtroom.

    The Justice Center Parking Garage is attached to the Durham County Courthouse. The Durham County Department of Transportation website does not list parking rates for this deck. However, other public parking decks in Durham County charge $1.25 per hour and $13.75 per day, so be prepared.

    • Weapons such as firearms and knives are not allowed in the courthouse. Anything that could be construed or used as a weapon, such as scissors, nail files, or other sharp objects, should be left at home or in your car.
    • You will enter the courthouse through a metal detector. Leave metal items such as jewelry, coins, and watches at home to ensure your trip through security is hassle-free.
